Type 2 diabetes-my struggle

Today I want to talk about managing a chronic illness, type 2 diabetes.
I have had this since 2010, mostly unmanaged. I have tried different diets, monitors, doctors, fasting. All to no avail. (Not to mention I have NO willpower.)
I don’t know for sure if I have long-term damage to any organ, but my guess is I probably do. My rock bottom was right before Christmas this year. I was feeling really gross and shaking. I took my blood sugar via finger prick and it was at 700. The normal range is 80-150. ðŸ˜¬
So I went to the ER where I got some fast-acting insulin and sat on a drip to rehydrate me for 6 hours. They were going to keep me for observation, but in the end, all my blood work evened out.
I went to my primary doc the following week. She immediately referred me to an endocrinologist. This is where I’m at now, on insulin and Monjourno, blood pressure meds, and a potassium drug.
I have lost 47 pounds and eat healthy, no more refined sugar at all! But, I get nauseous easily, so hoping to go down a dose on the Monjourno, that seems to be what’s making me sick, I’m at the highest dose.
But I will tell you, that scare was enough. I have a hard time listening to anyone, but I do now and I’m doing what I’m told.
I want to be around to see my grandkids grow up and live some more life.
Just know, it’s SO important to take care of yourself.
A supportive group of friends and relatives is also helpful,as well as prayer and research on whatever you struggle with.
