Aging and looking it 😬
I’m 61… and I like to think I don’t look it 😉
Honestly, I come by it naturally. My mom always looked younger than her age, my sister (who has me beat by 17 years!) still looks amazing, and I even have a cousin who never went gray. Clearly, there are some pretty solid genes floating around in this family.
But let’s be real—good genes can only take you so far. Maintenance matters.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve stuck with a simple routine: good skincare (I’ve always been loyal to Olay), decent makeup, and consistency. Nothing fancy, nothing complicated—just doing the basics over and over again. And I do believe this: quality products matter. You don’t have to buy everything expensive, but a few good staples go a long way.
Now, here’s where it gets funny…
I’ve spent a lot of time in the South (and will be heading back there soon), and if you know, you know—there’s an unspoken expectation to be a little more… polished. Think nails done, hair done, skin glowing at all times. Very “Southern belle.”
And me? I’m a jeans, t-shirt, and comfy shoes kind of girl 😬 Total tomboy at heart.
But I’ll admit—I meet in the middle.
When I’m down South:
- I keep my nails done
- My hair is colored and styled (yes… it adds up 💸)
- Skincare stays consistent
Makeup though? Not so much.
It’s HOT. Like… why did I even try hot. So most days it’s just mascara and a tan doing the heavy lifting. And honestly? I’m okay with that.
At this point in life, it’s less about perfection and more about feeling good in your own skin—whatever that looks like for you.
If you’re into simple routines, real-life beauty, and products that actually work, I share a lot of my favorite skincare and makeup finds over on Pinterest.
