📚 Why I’ll Always Be a Reader (Even When Life Gets Busy)

I’m a reader.

Like… not casually. Not “I read a book on vacation once” reader.
I’m talking
25 books a year kind of reader.

Or at least… that’s the goal.

This year? Slightly behind.
And by slightly, I mean… let’s not talk about it 😜

In my defense, I’ve been a little busy trying to become an influencer and all.
You know—just out here reinventing myself, one Pinterest pin at a time.

📖 My Go-To Genre: Thrillers That Mess With Your Mind

If you want to hook me instantly?
Give me a good thriller.

Twists. Turns. The kind of book where you think you’ve got it figured out… and then BAM—you were completely wrong.

My absolute favorite author?
Freida McFadden.

She does not play around.

Her books are the kind where you say:
“Okay, just one more chapter…”
…and suddenly it’s 1:30 a.m. and you’re questioning all your life choices.

My favorite of hers?
Never Lie.

I won’t spoil a single thing—but just know…
👉 It’s one of those “wait… WHAT just happened?!” books
👉 You will rethink everything
👉 And yes, you will probably tell someone else to read it immediately after

💭 Then There’s Memoirs (aka Real Life, But Make It Interesting)

As much as I love a twisty thriller, I also love a good memoir.

There’s something about real stories—messy, honest, human—that just pulls me in.

I just finished Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing by Matthew Perry.

And wow.

It was:

  • Engaging
  • Funny (his humor is exactly my style)
  • Heartwarming
  • And honestly… really sad at times

It’s one of those books that makes you feel like you’re sitting across from someone just telling you their story—no filters.

And I love that.

🤓 And Then There’s My “Curiosity Reading”

I’m also that person who goes down random reading rabbit holes.

One minute I’m reading a thriller…
Next minute I’m deep into:

  • Different religions
  • How things work
  • Political topics
  • Human behavior

Basically anything that makes me stop and go:
“Huh… I want to understand that better.”

I don’t always agree with everything I read—but I like learning.
I like seeing different perspectives.

And let’s be honest… there are way too many books to list right now—but don’t worry, I’ll be adding them to the blog as I go.

🧠 Why Reading Matters More As We Get Older

Here’s something I really believe…

Reading isn’t just a hobby.
It’s one of the best things you can do for yourself—especially as you get older.

It keeps your mind sharp.
It keeps you curious.
It keeps you growing.

And no… it is absolutely not too late to start.

You don’t need to read 25 books a year.
You don’t need to read anything complicated.

Just start with something that interests you.

A thriller.
A memoir.
Something random you’ve always wondered about.

Because every time you pick up a book, you’re doing something good for your brain—and honestly, your soul too.

💕 Final Thoughts (From a Slightly Behind Reader)

Will I catch up on my reading goal this year?

Maybe. Maybe not.

But here’s what I do know…

I’m not stopping.

Because reading is one of those things that:

  • grounds me
  • entertains me
  • teaches me
  • and occasionally keeps me up way too late

And I’m okay with all of that.

If you’ve read something lately you loved—tell me.
I’m always looking for my next “just one more chapter” book 👀📚
