The thing we all do

There is this thing I do…
Actually, let’s be honest—this thing
we all do.

Procrastinate.

Yep. Put it off. Avoid it. Pretend it doesn’t exist like it’s going to quietly pack up and leave on its own.

Spoiler alert:
It does not.

It just sits there. Waiting.
Like that one bill on the counter.
That laundry pile giving you side-eye.
That “I’ll start Monday” plan that somehow keeps moving to… next Monday.

And listen—I am not judging.
I am the president of the Procrastination Club.

I’ve been this way my whole life. I’d love to blame my mother… (kidding, Mom πŸ˜‰)… but honestly, she might be part of the reason.

Because growing up, if I didn’t clean my room?
She would.

If I didn’t put the dishes away?
She would.

If I left my hair tools (and let me tell you… there were A LOT—it was the 80s, big hair didn’t happen by accident) all over the place?

She. Would. Do. It.

So what did young me learn?

“Oh… if I wait long enough… this problem solves itself.”

Cute in theory.
Terrible life strategy.

Because now? Nobody’s coming in behind me to magically fix things. (Rude, honestly.)

And procrastination doesn’t just sit quietly—it multiplies.

One small thing turns into five.
Five turns into “ugh I don’t even know where to start.”
And suddenly you’re overwhelmed, stressed, and somehow… scrolling your phone instead of doing the thing.

Make it make sense.

The truth is, procrastination isn’t really about being lazy.
It’s about avoiding something that feels annoying, hard, boring, or uncomfortable.

But here’s the kicker…

πŸ‘‰ The longer you avoid it, the bigger it feels.
πŸ‘‰ The bigger it feels, the more you avoid it.
πŸ‘‰ And round and round we go.

It’s basically chaos in disguise.

And if you really look at it?
It sneaks into everything.

Your home
Your health
Your goals
Your peace of mind

All because of those tiny “I’ll do it later” moments.

Meanwhile, “later” is out here living its best life, never showing up.

Lately, I’ve been trying something different (and no, I have not magically become a super organized person overnight… let’s stay realistic).

I just ask myself:

“What’s one small thing I can do right now?”

Not everything.
Not perfectly.
Just… one thing.

Make the bed.
Put the dishes away.
Take a short walk.
Send the email.
Start.

And you know what? That one small thing usually turns into another.

And suddenly… it’s not chaos anymore. It’s progress.

So if you’re like me—and you’ve been putting something off…

This is your gentle nudge πŸ’•

It’s not going away.
But it also doesn’t have to take over everything.

Start small.
Start messy.
Just… start.

(And if someone wants to come clean my kitchen like my mom used to, I am absolutely still open to that option πŸ˜†)
